This Payment Methods and Tax Policy explains the payment options, currency conversion, taxes, customs duties, and other charges that may apply when you place an order through oakicon.com.
By submitting an order, you agree to pay the total amount displayed at checkout, including any applicable product charges, shipping fees, taxes, duties, and other charges shown before the order is completed.
1. Accepted Payment Methods
OAKICON accepts the payment methods displayed during checkout.
Depending on your location, device, currency, and payment-provider availability, these methods may include:
-
Visa;
-
Mastercard;
-
American Express;
-
Discover;
-
PayPal;
-
Shop Pay;
-
Apple Pay;
-
Google Pay;
-
Other payment methods made available through Shopify or our authorized payment providers.
Available payment methods may differ by country or region.
The appearance of a payment method on the Site does not guarantee that it will be available for every customer or transaction. The payment options available for your order will be displayed during checkout.
2. Payment Processing
Payments are processed securely through Shopify and authorized third-party payment providers.
When you submit an order, your payment provider may:
-
Verify your payment information;
-
Authorize the transaction;
-
Perform fraud and security checks;
-
Place a temporary authorization hold;
-
Request additional identity verification;
-
Approve or decline the payment.
OAKICON does not directly store complete credit or debit card numbers.
Your payment information is handled by the applicable payment provider according to its own security standards, terms, and privacy practices.
3. Payment Authorization
Submitting an order authorizes OAKICON and our payment providers to charge the payment method selected at checkout for:
-
The product price;
-
Shipping charges;
-
Applicable sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar taxes;
-
Duties or import charges collected at checkout;
-
Any other charges clearly displayed before the order is submitted.
An order is not considered accepted until the payment has been successfully authorized and the order has been confirmed by OAKICON.
We reserve the right to place an order on hold, request additional verification, or cancel an order when:
-
Payment authorization fails;
-
The billing information cannot be verified;
-
The transaction is identified as potentially fraudulent;
-
The payment method is unauthorized;
-
The order information is incomplete or inconsistent;
-
The payment provider declines the transaction;
-
A technical or pricing error occurs.
4. Billing Information
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate billing information, including:
-
Cardholder or account holder name;
-
Billing address;
-
Postal or ZIP code;
-
Card number;
-
Expiration date;
-
Security code;
-
Email address;
-
Telephone number, where requested.
The billing address entered during checkout should match the address associated with your payment method.
Incorrect or incomplete billing information may cause the payment to be declined, delayed, or canceled.
5. PayPal Payments
When PayPal is available and selected during checkout, you may be redirected to PayPal to log in and authorize the transaction.
Your payment is subject to PayPal’s terms, account limitations, security procedures, exchange rates, and privacy practices.
Depending on your country and PayPal’s available features, you may be able to pay using:
-
A PayPal account;
-
A linked bank account;
-
A credit or debit card;
-
PayPal guest checkout.
OAKICON does not control whether PayPal offers guest checkout for a particular transaction.
6. Digital Wallets and Accelerated Checkout
When available, you may complete your purchase through an accelerated checkout service such as:
-
Shop Pay;
-
Apple Pay;
-
Google Pay.
Information stored in your digital wallet, including your billing address, shipping address, email address, and payment details, may be automatically transmitted to the checkout.
You are responsible for reviewing this information before completing the order.
OAKICON is not responsible for delays, failed deliveries, or additional costs caused by outdated or incorrect information stored in your digital wallet.
7. Currency and Exchange Rates
Product prices may be displayed in different currencies depending on:
-
Your selected country or region;
-
Your location;
-
Shopify Markets settings;
-
Your browser or device settings;
-
The payment method selected.
The final currency charged will be displayed during checkout before you confirm your order.
When your card, bank account, or payment account uses a different currency, your payment provider may convert the transaction using its own exchange rate.
Your bank or payment provider may also charge:
-
Currency-conversion fees;
-
Foreign transaction fees;
-
International processing fees;
-
Cross-border payment fees.
These fees are determined and collected by your financial institution or payment provider. They are not controlled by OAKICON and are not included in the amount received by us.
8. Payment Troubleshooting
When your credit or debit card payment is unsuccessful, please:
-
Confirm that the card number, expiration date, security code, and billing address are correct.
-
Confirm that the card has sufficient available funds or credit.
-
Check whether the card is enabled for online and international transactions.
-
Verify that the billing address matches the information registered with your bank.
-
Refresh the checkout page and submit the order again.
-
Try another supported browser or device.
-
Contact your bank or card issuer to determine why the payment was declined.
-
Use another available payment method.
When a PayPal payment is unsuccessful, please:
-
Confirm that your PayPal account is active and not restricted.
-
Verify the payment method connected to your PayPal account.
-
Confirm that your billing and shipping information is correct.
-
Check whether PayPal has placed a transaction limit or security hold on your account.
-
Contact PayPal for additional information.
-
Select another available payment method at checkout.
For security and privacy reasons, OAKICON may not receive the specific reason why a bank or payment provider declined a transaction.
9. Pending Charges and Authorization Holds
A failed, canceled, or incomplete order may temporarily appear as a pending charge on your bank or payment account.
This is generally an authorization hold rather than a completed payment.
Authorization holds are controlled by the bank or payment provider and are normally released according to that provider’s processing schedule.
OAKICON cannot manually remove or accelerate the release of an authorization hold that is controlled by your financial institution.
Contact your bank or payment provider when a pending authorization remains on your account longer than expected.
10. Duplicate Charges
Before contacting us about a possible duplicate charge, please confirm whether:
-
One transaction is pending and the other is completed;
-
Multiple orders were submitted;
-
An earlier authorization hold has not yet been released;
-
Separate packages or transactions were processed;
-
The charges have different order references or amounts.
When you believe that the same order was charged more than once, contact us with:
-
Your order number;
-
The transaction date;
-
The amount charged;
-
A screenshot or bank statement showing the transactions;
-
The last four digits of the payment card, where applicable.
Do not send complete payment card information by email.
11. Sales Tax and Similar Taxes
OAKICON collects sales tax, use tax, VAT, GST, or similar transaction taxes where required by applicable law and based on our tax registrations and checkout settings.
The amount of tax may depend on factors including:
-
The destination country;
-
The state, province, or region;
-
The shipping address;
-
The billing address;
-
The type of product;
-
The shipping charge;
-
Applicable tax rules;
-
Available customer tax exemptions.
Where applicable, tax may be:
-
Included in the displayed product price;
-
Added as a separate charge during checkout;
-
Calculated after you enter your shipping address.
The amount displayed in your final checkout summary is the amount you authorize us to charge, subject to corrections required by law or in the case of an obvious technical error.
12. United States Orders
Orders shipped to addresses within the United States may be subject to state and local sales taxes.
Applicable sales tax, when required, will generally be calculated based on the shipping destination and displayed during checkout.
Tax rules and rates may vary by:
-
State;
-
County;
-
City;
-
Special tax district;
-
Product category;
-
Shipping destination.
The absence of a tax charge on a particular order does not necessarily mean that the purchase is exempt from all tax obligations.
Customers may be responsible for reporting or paying use tax directly to their local tax authority where required by law.
13. International Orders
International orders may be subject to:
-
VAT;
-
GST;
-
Import tax;
-
Customs duty;
-
Brokerage fees;
-
Handling fees;
-
Customs-clearance charges;
-
Local administrative fees;
-
Other government-imposed charges.
These charges depend on factors including:
-
The destination country;
-
Product type;
-
Product value;
-
Shipping cost;
-
Country of origin;
-
Customs classification;
-
Local tax and import regulations.
Customs authorities and government agencies determine the final amount of any applicable import charges.
14. Duties and Taxes Collected at Checkout
For certain destinations, estimated taxes, duties, or import charges may be calculated and collected during checkout.
When these amounts are collected at checkout, they will be displayed as part of your order total before payment is completed.
Amounts calculated during checkout are based on the information available at the time of purchase, including:
-
Product classification;
-
Declared value;
-
Country of origin;
-
Shipping destination;
-
Applicable duty and tax rates.
Additional charges may still apply when customs authorities determine that the original calculation was incomplete or incorrect.
15. Duties and Taxes Due Upon Delivery
When duties and import taxes are not collected during checkout, the shipment may be sent on a Delivered at Place or similar basis.
In this situation, the recipient is responsible for paying any applicable:
-
Customs duties;
-
Import taxes;
-
VAT or GST;
-
Brokerage fees;
-
Carrier collection fees;
-
Customs-processing charges.
The carrier, postal service, customs authority, or local government may contact the recipient directly to request payment before or upon delivery.
OAKICON does not control these charges and cannot predict the exact amount before customs assessment.
16. Refusal to Pay Customs Charges
Customers are responsible for reviewing potential customs and tax obligations before placing an international order.
When a recipient refuses to pay applicable customs duties, import taxes, or handling fees:
-
The package may be delayed;
-
The package may be held by customs;
-
The package may be returned to the sender;
-
The package may be abandoned or destroyed;
-
Additional return or storage fees may apply.
Original shipping charges and customs-related fees are non-refundable.
When a package is returned because the recipient refused or failed to pay import charges, any refund will be determined according to our Refund Policy and may be reduced by:
-
Original shipping costs;
-
Return shipping costs;
-
Customs charges;
-
Handling charges;
-
Carrier fees;
-
Other costs incurred by OAKICON.
Personalized and made-to-order products may not qualify for a refund when returned because the recipient refused to pay import charges.
17. Tax-Exempt Orders
Customers claiming a tax exemption must contact OAKICON before completing the purchase.
A valid exemption certificate or other legally required documentation may be necessary.
Submitting tax-exemption documentation does not guarantee approval.
Tax exemptions cannot always be applied retroactively after an order has been completed.
OAKICON reserves the right to reject an exemption request that is incomplete, invalid, expired, or inconsistent with applicable law.
18. Customs Declarations
OAKICON and our fulfillment partners are required to provide accurate information on customs documents.
We cannot:
-
Declare a lower product value;
-
Mark a commercial purchase as a gift;
-
Provide false product descriptions;
-
Alter customs information to avoid taxes or duties;
-
Guarantee that a shipment will be exempt from customs inspection.
Customers must not request inaccurate or misleading customs declarations.
19. Tax and Customs Refunds
Taxes collected directly by OAKICON may be refunded when required and when the related order qualifies for a refund under our Refund Policy.
Taxes, duties, VAT, brokerage charges, or import fees paid directly to a carrier, customs authority, postal service, or government agency are not received by OAKICON and generally cannot be refunded by us.
Customers seeking reimbursement of government-collected charges must contact the relevant customs authority, carrier, or tax agency.
OAKICON does not guarantee that a third party will approve a tax or duty refund.
20. Refund Processing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible.
Refund processing times depend on the payment method, bank, card issuer, and payment provider.
After OAKICON issues a refund, it may take additional time for the credit to appear on your account.
Original currency-conversion fees, foreign transaction fees, banking fees, and differences caused by exchange-rate changes are not refundable by OAKICON.
For complete refund eligibility requirements, review our Refund Policy.
21. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Customers should contact support@oakicon.com before initiating a payment dispute so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.
Fraudulent, abusive, or knowingly false chargebacks may result in:
-
Cancellation of pending orders;
-
Suspension of customer accounts;
-
Refusal of future orders;
-
Submission of order and delivery evidence to the payment provider;
-
Further action permitted by law.
Nothing in this section limits a customer’s lawful right to dispute an unauthorized or incorrectly processed payment.
22. Pricing Errors
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that prices, taxes, discounts, and payment information are accurate.
However, errors may occasionally occur because of:
-
Technical failures;
-
Incorrect currency conversion;
-
Data-entry errors;
-
Incorrect tax settings;
-
Promotional configuration errors;
-
Third-party system issues.
We reserve the right to correct an obvious pricing or calculation error and to cancel an affected order.
When an order is canceled because of an error, any amount successfully charged will be refunded to the original payment method.
23. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Payment Methods and Tax Policy to reflect changes in:
-
Accepted payment methods;
-
Payment providers;
-
Tax registrations;

Applicable laws;
